The IP method is similar to DC electrical resistivity surveys, but measuring the voltage decay after the current is switched allows for the apparent chargeability (TDIP) or phase difference (RPIP) of the subsurface to be determined. IP surveys have applications in Mining Exploration, especially for locating disseminated sulphide deposits, engineering site investigation, hazardous waste site characterisation and petroleum exploration.

Zonge can perform pole-dipole, dipole-dipole, gradient, radial and 3D surveys in either the frequency or time domains, and can provide two-dimensional inversion software (TS2DIP) for modelling of IP data.
