Who We Are

Zonge Engineering and Research Organization (Aust) Pty Ltd (Zonge Australia) was established in Adelaide in 1984, by our parent company in the US. A crew was sent to work with Western Mining Corporation at Roxby Downs and Zonge has been developing its services in Australia ever since.

Safe, efficient and accurate surveys have remained a priority throughout and our activities are designed to respect both the local environment and local culture. We use a broad range of safe electrical techniques for data acquisition and also offer data processing and interpretation services for the mining, engineering and environmental industries.

Our ability to deliver significant local technical expertise gives clients immediate benefits in terms of cost and turnaround time. Zonge Australia is still based in Adelaide.

As an independent Australian owned and managed business, we work all over Australia and the world. Countries we have conducted surveys in recently include New Zealand, Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia, China, Russia, Fiji, Japan, Pakistan, Laos, India. Over 36 years of experience means we have the knowledge and equipment to guarantee accurate results in the most extreme conditions.

KEY EVENTS IN OUR HISTORY

1972

Kenneth Zonge forms Zonge Engineering in Tucson, Arizona to conduct applied research using the complex resistivity (CR) method he developed as a doctoral student under the direction of Dr. John Sumner, noted IP expert and professor of geophysics at The University of Arizona. He builds the first CR survey instrumentation using a modified Digital Equipment Corporation 12-bit minicomputer and a Burr-Brown 500-watt, constant-current transmitter. Zonge Engineering field crews begin conducting CR data acquisition and inversion services in the U.S. and Canada.

1976

Zonge Engineering releases the first commercially available, digitally-controlled, IP/CR receiver and crews begin using it in the field. The first units are sold as a 12-bit geophysical data processor named the “GDP-12.”

1982

Zonge conducts CR measurements at Olympic Dam in Australia, one of the largest copper deposits in the world. Western Mining purchases Zonge IP systems for in-house crews and Zonge establishes an office in Adelaide which is later sold to local management.
